On June 20, Choi Sam Ryong, the fifth commissioner of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority, held a farewell ceremony at the Daegu Textile Complex.
During his three-year tenure, starting from July 10, 2020, Commissioner Choi is said to have led the authority with his outstanding ability and soft leadership.
With his innovation through intensive reorganization and manpower restructuring, Choi laid the foundation for the DGFEZ to leap forward in the post-COVID-19 era, including investment attraction innovation to revitalize the local economy. In addition, during his tenure, DGFEZ attracted foreign capital worth $480 million with six foreign companies through customized IR activities and settlement improvement for core strategic industries of ICT, robots, medical, bio, and future mobility.
Accordingly, DGFEZ also secured 1.5 billion KRW in governmental funds for the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's innovation ecosystem creation project, and achieved outstanding results by obtaining an "excellent(2nd)" rating for three consecutive years in the performance evaluation of the FEZs in Korea.
