On October 21, Mr. Do, Gunwoo, was inaugurated as the new commissioner of DGFEZ by the Mayor of Daegu Metropolitan City and the Governor of Gyeongbuk Province. Mr. Do’s role is to ensure the progress of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone and related foreign investment activities over the next three years.
Mr. Do said at his inauguration that, “the key to successfully attracting foreign investment attraction is to foster excellent living environment for foreigners and profitable business conditions that are instantly attractive to investors.”
Committing himself and his team to the project he also stated that, “it is vital to set new strategies… I will endeavor unceasingly to ensure that DGFEZ is equipped with innovative global systems as a special economic zone and to improve (investment) attraction strategies focusing on the target industries of each district.”
Mr. Do grew up in Daegu and then attended Korea University in Seoul. He majored in economics where he was awarded a PhD in 2004. Throughout his career he has established himself as a economic specialist through experience in the Board of Audit and Inspection of Korea, Ministry of Strategy and Finance, Samsung Economic Research Institute, and the Youido Institute.
