Groundbreaking Ceremony Held In Gyeongsan Knowledge Industry District for Northeast Asia's Knowledge Industry Hub

 

 

DGFEZ Commissioner Gun-Woo Do along with representatives from Daegu Metropolitan City and Gyeongbuk Province broke ground on April 4th on Gyeongsan Knowledge Industry District. It will be a home for production and R&D of construction machinery parts, medical devices and advanced medical convergence textile once completed by 2022.

 

 

Advanced Construction Part Specialized Complex located in Gyeongsan Knowledge Industry District also broke ground. The complex takes up the largest site in the district (1,115,960㎡) and Advanced Construction Convergence Center & Industrial Complex and Convergence Construction & Part Design Center will be established that is expected to have positive synergy effects with an automotive cluster in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region. The High-Tech Medical Test Bed fostered in the district focuses on developing and producing advanced medical devices and higher value-added medical textiles which aims at the convergence of textile industry in Daegu and high-tech industry.

 

 

Gun-Woo Do, commissioner of DGFEZ said, "more than 30 companies are already showing interests in investing in Gyeongsan Knowledge Industry District which provides highly skilled and available labor and boasts great access to major cities in Korea. Once foreign and Korean conglomerates move in and start operation, Gyeongsan Knowledge Industry District is expected to have profound effects on production inducement (KRW 2.06 trillion), value added inducement (KRW 800 billion) and employment inducement (16,000). Moreover, It is also anticipated to enhance regional competitiveness and activate regional economy through job creation." He commented, "DGFEZ set an investment strategy targeting European and Japanese technopogies and the Middle East and Chinese capital. We are now contacting actively with various global companies and preparing active roadshows in Europe, the Middle East and Asia."
