Officials from UCLA Health System visited DGFEZ and had meetings with Commissioner Gunwoo Do, Deputy Commissioner Daekwon Kim and key officials from major academic hospitals in Daegu, Korea on June 16-17.
The visit was arranged after Commissioner Do met with senior officials from UCLA Health System in Los Angeles earlier this year to engage UCLA Health System in a visionary medical project in Suseong Medical District, one of the 8 free economic sites administered by DGFEZ. There have been continuous discussions and conversations to identify areas of collaboration and cooperation since then, and the visit confirmed strong mutual relationship between DGFEZ and UCLA Health System.
“Daegu has well-instituted medical infrastructure, and with UCLA Health System’s sound medical research capability, clinical trials and clinical cares, I expect there will be great synergy effects when working together, which would benefit local academic hospitals, UCLA Health System, and patients each organization serves,” remarked Commissioner Do. He also added DGFEZ is ready to provide administrative and financial assistance needed for UCLA Health System to make a presence in Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone.
The meetings held in Daegu were facilitated to help the UCLA delegation better understand about Daegu’s healthcare infrastructure, which then would help both organizations identify specific areas of collaboration and cooperation going forward.
