A Presentation Meeting on the Investment Environment in DGFEZ for Japanese Businesses Held
- Japanese companies located in the Greater Seoul Area, Gyeongnam, and Busan showed a strong interest in investing in DGFEZ -
DGFEZ (Director: Geonwoo Doh) held a one-night-two-days event from June 8 (Thu) to 9 (Fri) to give presentations on the business investment environment in DGFEZ, to which the businessmen in the Greater Seoul Area, Busan, and Gyeongnam Region were invited.
The event was organized by Seoul Japan Club and Busan Japanese Association. About 30 Japanese business people who are running their companies in South Korea were invited to participate in the presentation of the DGFEZ industrial complex and pay a visit to the cultural village in Andong.
Due to the recent economic slow-down across the world and the decreasing overseas investment of the Japanese companies, DGFEZ planned this event to develop new business model in preparation for the 4th industrial revolution and promote DGFEZ to the Japanese business people who are interested in Daegu and Gyeongbuk area, with a view to attract their investment.
On the first day, which was June 8 (Thu), the participants visited DieCell (an air-back inflator maker). The company was a 100% Japanese foreign direct investment company located in Yeongcheon Advanced Part and Material Industrial Complex. The visitors had a meeting to discuss the status of the factory and the reasons of their success in attracting the investment and took a field trip to the production facilities.
On the second day, DGFEZ held its investment environment presentation meeting, where the site conditions were described in detail for each sector, while they emphasized that Daegu and Gyeongbuk area was the best place for their investment due to the industrial infrastructure, etc. As a result, the host succeeded in inducing the answers from the participating business people that they would consider investing in the region if they are to expand or build new facilities in the future.
After the presentation meeting, the business people took a guided tour in the new Gyeongbuk Provincial Government Building, which was designed to combine the beauty of the traditional Korean architecture and tradition with a modern building, to be improved by the building significantly.
Lastly, they visited Hahoe Village, which has been registered as a World Cultural Heritage of UNESCO, taking a tour in the folk village where they could experience the traditional beauty of Korea and deepen their understanding on Korean culture, as the last event of the one-night-two-days schedule.
Mr. Gyoil Kim, the Head of Gyeongbuk Division of DGFEZ, said, “This event provided us with a good opportunity to actively preen tour investment environment and encourage the Japanese business people to consider investing in the region, further emphasizing that they would continue to attract investments by developing the investment attraction models for target countries and continents in consideration of the characteristics of each sector.
