DGFEZ Holds a Meeting with foreign investment companies in Yeongcheon High-Tech Park
- Participants discussed follow-up support for and difficulties of foreign investment companies -
Daegu Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority (hereinafter “DGFEZ”, In-Seon Lee, Commissioner) invested the CEOs of foreign investment companies in the Yeongcheon High-tech Park on October 29 (Tue) and held a meeting for the development of the resident companies and the stimulation of the DGFEZ.
❍ In this meeting, 15 participants including the CEOs of foreign investment companies, Commissioner In-Seon Lee, and Vice Mayor discussed the difficulties of companies and suggestions for improvement of unreasonable systems.
❍ At present, there are nine forein investment companies in the Yeongcheon High-Tech Park with a sales of 17.76 billion KRW and 776 employees in total. All these companies are playing a supporting role in revitalizing the local economy by integrating advanced technologies and promoting the front-to-back linkage effects of related industries.
❍ Since reorganization in March 2018, the DGFEZ is attracting investments and supporting the resident companies. To support them, the DGFEZ held a smart factory briefing and meeting in last May at Geumchang Co., Ltd. In coming December, they will support the participation of companies in the automotive part exhibition in Shanghai, China.
❍ In the meeting on this day, many opinions have been presented including the enforcement of 52-hour work week system, lack of welfare facilities in the FEZ, the problem of accessibility to the FEZ, and insufficient incentives.
❍ The DGFEZ decided to actively respond to the difficulties and suggestions for improvement of systems through the cooperation of and suggestion to related institutions after classifying them into short-term and long-term tasks.
❍ Commissioner In-Seon Lee who presided over this meeting said, “Not only attraction, but also post management is critical for foreign investment companies who are not accustomed to our laws, norms, and procedures. We will do our best to support them by solving their difficulties.”
