DGFEZ signed an MOU with Hanmi Science on Smart Healthcare worth KRW 300 billion
- Establishment of healthcare clinical center, open innovation R&D center and prototype facility
- Pohang Fusion Tech District rises as a New Base for K-Bio

 
 

DGFEZ and Hanmi Science Co., Ltd. concluded an MOU worth KRW 300 billion at Pohang City Hall on June 15 to build smart healthcare infrastructure in the city of Pohang, attended by 30 people, including Lee Cheol-woo(governor of Gyeongsangbuk-do Province), Lee Kang-deok(Mayor of Pohang City), Im Jong-yoon(CEO of Hanmi Science), Kim Jin-hyeon(acting commissioner of the DGFEZ) and Ahn Sung-il(Director General of FEZ planning office, MOTIE).
 
The MOU was an initiation of building smart healthcare infrastructure in the Pohang Fusion Tech Dist. of DGFEZ where Hanmi Science Co., Ltd. to enter into new growth industries such as bio, smart healthcare, and remote working after COVID-19.
 
Hanmi Science Co., Ltd. plans to build a smart healthcare clinical center, bio open innovation R&D center, and prototype production facilities in 51,846㎡ of Pohang Fusion Tech Dist. by 2030.
The plan is to combine ‘medical service’, ‘R&D’, and ‘Manufacturing’ to enable rapid industrialization of research results and applicating them directly to medical care.
 
This MOU is the result of a mutual business agreement between Hanmi Science Co., Ltd. and Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, Pohang City, and POSTECH to enhance K-Bio competitiveness on Nov. 25, 2019. Since the mutual agreement, Hanmi Science Co., Ltd. has been working closely with each other to study the structure of cell membrane proteins using radiation accelerators and ultra-low temperature electron microscopes, and to develop new drugs based on target protein structures.
