The Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority(DGFEZ) announced on June 11 that it had discussed measures to expand foreign investment with K-MEDI hub.

K-MEDI hub is a public institution under the Ministry of Health and Welfare established to foster South Korea’s medical and bio industries to global standards, providing support for new drug and medical device development as well as clinical trials.

The Sinseo Meditech District, where K-MEDI hub is located, was designated as an Advanced Medical Complex in 2009 and serves as a core hub for the Daegu-Gyeongbuk medical and bio industries.

On that day, Acting DGFEZ Commissioner Sang-Ki Kang discussed tenant companies and major projects within the district with K-MEDI hub Chairman Gusun Park and toured key research and support facilities. They then exchanged views on mutual cooperation, including plans to hold joint overseas investor relations(IR) events to attract global bio and medical device companies.

Acting DGFEZ Commissioner Sang-Ki Kang stated, “The K-MEDI Hub is implementing various support programs to strengthen the global competitiveness of companies located in the Sinseo Meditech District,” adding, “The DGFEZ will also contribute to the growth and development of the regional medical and bio industries by expanding efforts to attract global bio and medical device companies.”
