The Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority(DGFEZ) and Ajin Industry Co., Ltd. announced that they held a completion ceremony for the reshoring project at Ajin Industry’s new plant in the Gyeongsan Knowledge Industry District on Wednesday, June 10.
Ajin Industry is a company specializing in automotive body parts and a key partner to the domestic automotive industry, including Hyundai Motor Company. Although the company had previously operated overseas production bases, it decided to reshoring in 2024 to proactively respond to the restructuring of global supply chains and strengthen its manufacturing competitiveness.
The newly completed factory was built on a 96,000-square-meter site with a total investment of KWR 250 billion, featuring production facilities for automotive body press parts and body assembly components. It is scheduled to produce parts for the Genesis GV70 electric model, as well as the GV80 and G80 hybrid vehicles. Additionally, the project is expected to create 120 new jobs in the region.
Sang-Ki Kang, Acting Commissioner of the DGFEZ, stated, “Ajin Industry’s reshoring is of great significance in elevating the competitiveness of the local manufacturing sector and stabilizing the automotive industry supply chain.” He added, “We will continue to devote all our efforts to creating an optimal business environment to attract additional reshoring companies and future industry companies.”
