"DGFEZ Leading Communication and Collaboration: Hosting the 'Innovation Ecosystem Council for the Gyeongsan Knowledge Industry District'

Collaboration among 16 organizations from industry, academia,
research, and government to explore ways to activate the innovation
ecosystem
 
On November 27th, DGFEZ ( Kim Byeong-sam, hereafter
'DGFEZ') held the 'Innovation Ecosystem Council for the Gyeongsan
Knowledge Industry District' at the Catholic University of Daegu,
with the participation of around 30 representatives from 16
organizations in industry, academia, research, and government.
 
The purpose of this council was to address the challenges faced by
resident companies through collaboration among organizations in the
Gyeongsan Knowledge Industry Dirict and to play a supporting role
in driving regional economic growth.
 
The Gyeongsan Knowledge Industry Dirict Innovation Ecosystem
Council was established in 2019 as the first of its kind among nine
economic free zones nationwide. It consists of DGFEZ,
Gyeongsangbuk-do, Gyeongsan City, 7 research institutions*, 3
universities**, Gyeongsan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the
Association of CEOs of the Gyeongsan Knowledge Industry Zone, and
Gyeongsan Knowledge Industry Development Corporation, totaling 16
organizations.

Center, Korea Institute of Construction Machinery and Technology

The council has been actively fostering collaboration between
industry, academia, research, and government through practical
meetings and has been implementing customized business support
projects tailored to the needs of companies, such as fostering and
supplying specialized technical talent and supporting youth
employment.
 
Moreover, to improve the living conditions for companies in the
Gyeongsan Knowledge Industry Dirict, the council has conducted
numerous meetings with relevant organizations and operated an
on-site business consultation room, addressing inconveniences and
challenges faced by the companies. Additionally, an online business
support platform has been established and utilized as a
communication space with collaborating organizations, providing
various information such as zone status, recruitment, competition
announcements, newsletters, and more.
 
Commissioner Kim Byeong-sam mentioned, "let us collectively strive
to make the Gyeongsan Knowledge Industry District Innovation
Ecosystem Council an organic cooperative system among industry,
academia, research, and government, laying the foundation for the
innovative growth of resident companies and contributing to the
nurturing of excellent specialized talents and job creation in the
region."
